Superbill Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026.

Superbill Studio (“the extension”) is built on a simple principle: your practice and client data stay on your device. There are no servers of ours, no accounts, and no analytics. The one exception is the optional Superbill Pro subscription, described under “Payments (Superbill Pro)” below.

What we collect

Nothing for the core extension. The extension:

  • Does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information — yours or your clients’. Your practice profile, client list, rates, and superbills are never uploaded anywhere.
  • Does not use analytics, trackers, advertising SDKs, or remote code.
  • Does not ask for or store any usernames, passwords, or credentials.
  • Makes no network requests at all, except for the ExtensionPay communication used by the optional Pro subscription (see below). If you never open the Pro payment or login page, the extension makes no contact with ExtensionPay either.

Payments (Superbill Pro)

Superbill Pro is an optional paid upgrade. Payments are processed by Stripe through ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), a payment service built for browser extensions.

  • When you open the Pro payment or login page, or when the extension checks whether your subscription is active, it communicates with ExtensionPay. ExtensionPay holds your email address and subscription/payment status so it can validate your license; the extension itself only receives a paid / not-paid flag back.
  • Your card details go directly to Stripe. Superbill Studio never sees, receives, or stores them.
  • ExtensionPay stores an anonymous API key in the extension’s local storage to recognize your subscription on this browser.
  • If you never open the payment or login page, the extension makes no contact with ExtensionPay at all.

What is stored locally

All data lives in your browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local), on your device only:

  • Your practice profile (practice name, credentials, license number, NPI, optional EIN/TIN, address, phone, email — and, with Pro, your practice logo image).
  • Your fee defaults and editable CPT rate table.
  • Your client list (names or initials, optional date of birth, insurance company, and member ID — only what you type in — plus any per-client custom rates you set with Pro).
  • Your superbill history (the superbills you generate, so you can re-print them).
  • Your Superbill Pro status (paid / not paid) and, if you have engaged with Pro, the anonymous ExtensionPay API key described above.

This data is never transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling the extension deletes it. Clearing the extension’s storage from your browser’s extension settings also deletes it.

Permissions — why each one

  • storage: used solely to save your practice profile, client list, rate tables, and superbill history in local browser storage on your device, and your Pro status / anonymous ExtensionPay API key if you use Pro.
  • Host access to extensionpay.com: used only for Superbill Pro — to open the payment/login pages and validate a paid subscription. The extension’s bundled payment library runs on those pages to complete the payment flow. No page content is read or collected.

Superbill Studio requests no other host permissions and no access to any other website’s content.

A note on client information

Because everything is stored locally in your browser profile, protect it the same way you would any file on your computer: use a device password, and consider entering client initials instead of full names (the extension supports this — a superbill prints exactly what you enter).
