Diets of the Modern World

There are various diets available, each one having a different approach to achieving the right nutrition. This means that there is a diet for every individual for every purpose.

The Paleo Diet

This diet is all about consuming the same foods as our ancestors did. They were hunter-gatherers in their time. Due to the fact that they didn’t practice agriculture, they consumed only that which was available naturally in the environment.

The diet consists primarily of whole foods, vegetables, lean proteins, and fruits. A more progressive version of the diet allows for tubers and dairy products. A reduction in blood pressure and cholesterol are some of the benefits of this diet.

The Ketogenic Diet

This diet has been used for decades to treat epilepsy. It involves the reduction of carbohydrates while increasing fat consumption. It has become quite popular in recent years with Keto meals delivered across America.

Foods high in fat such as avocados, Brazil nuts, and oily fish are preferred. The diet triggers a fat breakdown in the body for energy. This leads to weight loss and is beneficial for managing type 2 diabetes.

With the popularity of this diet, you can find several food deliveries to have your Keto meals delivered at your place.

The Vegan Diet

As the name suggests, this diet eliminates animal products (eggs and milk) and meat. One of the main benefits of this is reduced body fat since most vegetables are full of fiber and are low in fat.

The fiber in plant-based products allows you to feel full for a longer period of time, thereby consuming fewer calories.

The ultra-low-fat diet

With this type of diet, consumption of fat shouldn’t exceed 10% of the total calories consumed in a day. It’s characterized by low consumption of animal products, and it’s mostly plant-based.

The benefits include reducing the risk of high blood pressure, increased weight loss (especially among obese people) and lowering the risk of heart disease. However, the diet seems not to be as effective in the long term.

Atkins Diet

This is the most famous low carbohydrate diet for weight loss. The diet allows you to consume as much fat and protein as you want. The only condition is to make sure that you avoid carbohydrates. There are two phases in this diet:

  1. The induction phase: It lasts for two weeks whereby, you eat less than 20 grams of carbohydrates daily, leading to a drastic drop in weight.
  2. Post induction phase: After the second week, you add healthy carbohydrates as you approach your ideal weight.

Raw Food Diet

It’s also known as raw foodism. It involves eating unprocessed, organic, and entirely plant-based foods. Most people who practice it believe that 75% of all food consumed should be raw. Raw food dieters are classified into four main categories:

  1. Raw vegetarians; they only eat plant-based foods, dairy, and eggs.
  2. Raw Vegans; they don’t consume any animal products, including eggs and dairy.
  3. Raw Omnivores; they consume both animal-based and plant-based.
  4. Raw Carnivores; they only consume raw meat.
