BeFunky: A Free Online Photo Editor

BeFunky was started in 2007 by Tekin Tatar. Before BeFunky, Tatar wore many hats in the field of marketing and management after which he finally settled down for his passion in Digital Media and started off with BeFunky.

The online editor of BeFunky has a very user friendly interface to work on. On the left hand side is situated the toolbox having various options for basic tools, effects, text box, goodies and texture. The right hand side is the work area where the effective changes can be seen. You can upload the picture to be edited from you local computer or also from Facebook, Picasa, Flickr and Photobucket. You can edit the photos in a full screen mode for an improved feel of the editor workplace. The editor also has a unique option for editing the pics as a Facebook Cover. After you are done with the editing, you can either save it on your computer or also share it on Social Networking sites.

There is no registration required to use the free basic version of the site. However the site also offers a premium and a professional membership priced at $4.95/month and $14.95/month respectively. The paid membership doesn’t has any restriction on the size of the picture, sports an ad-free environment and also provides a service to store the photos online.

BeFunky features a Blog where in you can find info on how creatively you can use the site and also see the work done by other folks. It also offers an app for Android and iOS with which you can edit photos on your mobile and tablet too.

But as the saying goes nothing is perfect in this world, BeFunky doesn’t feature an eraser tool which proves to be a great disappointment. The free users can upload pics of max size 616×460 pixels only. Also the edited photos (of a free user) sport a ‘watermark’ on the lower right hand corner.

For those users who are not entirely happy with, Pixlr can be a great alternative.
