6 Activities That Will Boost Your Memory

1. Reading

All of this activity helps improve capabilities like your cognition, your attention span, and your memory. 

2. Meditation

Meditation is famous for easing stress, improving concentration, and reducing symptoms of anxiety. It can also help with your memory. Research from West Virginia University found that meditation could help reverse memory loss in older adults who showed cognitive decline and were at a high risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. 

3. Learning New Things

One of the reasons why adults experience mental decline is that they stop learning new things. Kids, teenagers, and young adults are enrolled in school programs, allowing them to take on new skills and challenge themselves. But older adults? Not so much. 
If you’re considering moving into a senior’s home in the near future, you should look for retirement residences that feel like home and that offer a long list of activities that will keep your mind sharp throughout your golden years. 4. Playing Games 

Playing games can engage your brain, increase your mental function, and sharpen your memory in the long-term. This is just the excuse you need to play. There are lots of games that can improve your memory out there, so find one that piques your interest and get going. Challenge your friend to a few rounds of chess. Fill out a jigsaw puzzle. Try the latest video game. Pick up a board game that’s been gathering dust on your shelf. 

5. Knitting

Knitting has effects that are similar to meditation. It can decrease stress, symptoms of anxiety, and symptoms of depression. This relaxing activity is also believed to help with your memory. So, it’s time to grab a pair of needles and start following a pattern for a snug pair of socks or a cozy throw. 

6. Exercise

Experts recommend participating in regular cardiovascular exercise to increase your cognition and boost your memory. Even something as simple as a daily walking routine could be very helpful. Other cardiovascular exercises that you can try:
