Ashish Hemrajani, Parikshit Dhar, and Rajesh Balpande, three alumni from the Sydenham Institute of Management, Mumbai are the brains behind this ticketing platform. 2007 was the year when they officially launched their website. The parent company of BookMyShow is BigTree Entertainment Ltd headed by Ashish Hemrajani.

For those who do not have access to a laptop/desktop but wish to book tickets for an event can do so through the app. Not just this, if you love attending plays and watching movies, you also get a synopsis of the play or movie so you may be in a better position to choose the play or movie you wish to attend/watch.

Hike was launched as a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and SoftBank. The brainchild behind the app is Kavin Bharti Mittal, one of the sons of Sunil Bharti Mittal.

So people with no internet connection can communicate with others, Hike Messenger added a functionality by which the users could exchange text messages with people living in any part of India, for free. The striking feature of Hike Messenger is the ‘nudge’ functionality through which a user can ping another user.

Pulse was originally created by two Stanford students of Indian origin, Ankit Gupta and Akshay Kothari and released in 2010. The startup, Alphonso Labs, was one of the first businesses to use SSE Labs, Stanford’s business incubator. The Pulse app was made free for Android users on 15 November 2010. When LinkedIn bought Pulse from the parent company, Alphonso Labs for $90 million, it was renamed LinkedIn Pulse. The redesigned app was launched in the market on June 17, 2015.
